Who We Are
Since 1980, construction projects have been part of the company operations and in 1995, Steel Stone Company Ltd., was legally licensed with U Than Lwin as the chairman of the company. Cooperating with ministries of Myanmar such as Ministry of Rail Transportation, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Department of Urban and Housing Development (now Ministry of Construction), Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Border Affairs, multiple construction projects to develop various regions were accomplished across several states of Myanmar.
In Yangon, Shwe Pyi Thar, multiple zones were also developed by STEEL STONE such as Thardu Kan Industrial Zone, Shwelinban Industrial Zone, Hlaing Tharyar Industrial Zone, South Dagon Industrial Zones in addition to the constructions of Hlaing Parami residential high-rise apartments, schools, hospitals, dams, industrial facilities and shophouses. Moreover, multiple rail transport development projects were also undertaken namely Minbu-Ann-Sittway railway which connects Rakhine and Maggway, Pathein-Nyaungtone railway connecting Yangon and Pathein, and finally Harkhar-Gantgaw railway locating in Shan Region. In addition to such projects, multiple bridge construction works varying in project scales were also accomplished by STEEL STONE.
On average, projects valuing USD 5 million to 10 million were carried out annually. In general, projects worth USD 150 million are being handled by our company as of now. In Karen Region as well, during 2013-2015, as a project by Asia Development Bank, the Asian Highway where the section linking Myawaddi-KawKrate were developed together with SEESANG KREK Company whose past works include Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition to that, KawKrate-Kyitedon section of the Asian Highway was further implemented through cooperation with CRBC company under China’s number one CCCC in 2018-2019. Additionally, in Hpa-ahn, road transport developments were also in progress with projects such as AC roads, Eaindu-Zarthabyin AC road, Kyarkalay-Zarthabyin concrete roads, Mudon-Myawaddy AC roads and Kyar Inn Sate Kyi-Phayar Thone Su concrete roads being accomplished besides multiple bridge construction works.
For Karen Regional Development, construction works including roads and bridges, schools and hospitals were also fulfilled in addition to charitable works that involves COVID-19 prevention and Oxygen Factory building. Beside the involvement in such developments, several religious contributions were also carried out through building monasteries and construction of pagoda.
